Have you ever been asked to write a guest blog for someone’s website? Did you jump all over the opportunity or let it pass you by? In all seriousness, it’s a GREAT idea to take advantage of guest blogging opportunities, and here is why…
EXPOSURE
Do you ever feel like nobody knows what you do? All those Facebook posts going unnoticed? A guest post on an established website gives you the perfect opportunity to tell your story to a brand new audience. Just imagine touching potentially hundreds of people who haven’t heard of you and what you do.
SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE
This is the perfect time to show the readers that you know your stuff. What do people ask you about? There are all kinds of blogs to write, some of the ones readers like best are “How To … ” or “10 Tips For …” – You fill in the blanks! Write about something that is relevant to your industry (like blogging is to mine!). Share your knowledge and give your new audience some great tips on a topic. There was a great blog written for SEVEN just last week that was all about cooking. If you missed it, you can catch it here. This is a great example of sharing industry knowledge.
GAIN FOLLOWERS
Most sites requesting guest blogs will allow you to include a bio at the bottom of your post. This is a super simple way to get your social media sites out there for new followers. Add a link to your Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+ and any other social media platforms you are using. ASK your readers to connect with you on social media. Give them the chance to get to know you better.
BUILD AN EMAIL LIST
Each time you touch a potential client, whether it’s through email, social media, mailers, phone calls or some other marketing strategy, you are reinforcing your brand with them. A guest blog gives you the chance to invite those new readers to subscribe to your newsletter. By building your email list, you increase your opportunity to reach more people with information about your business.
There are a multitude of benefits to guest blogging – I haven’t even touched on SEO (search engine optimization) for those of you that have a website. These are only four of my favorites.
Did you know that every member of SEVEN can write a guest blog? Why not put pen to paper (or cursor to Word document) and share what YOU know with this wonderful network of entrepreneurs. You just might have the answer to someone’s question.
