Are You A “Kindpreneur”?

What exactly IS a kindpreneur? Being kind and loving to others isn’t just beneficial in our personal lives, it’s beneficial in our professional lives as well. As I always say, “Work hard and be kind and you will be successful!” A kindpreneur is a business person who helps others and has a kind, loving attitude. Anyone can be a kindpreneur. Try a few of these things out and see how your business is affected.

Give Back

Do you have a favorite charity or cause? Do you make giving part of the culture of your business? Take a moment to sit down and think about how you can help your community. Maybe you want to help the homeless. Consider making regular donations to an organization like the Salvation Army or Homeless Engagement Lift Partnership, a charity run by one of our very own SEVEN members. Is animal rescue your passion? There are plenty of rescues you can get involved with and donate time or money to helping their cause. They key is to find something you are passionate about that helps others.

Say Thank You

How often do you thank your clients? They are supporting your business. Take the time to write them a thank you note at least quarterly. Everyone wants to feel appreciated. While your clients probably know you appreciate them, it’s nice to have a little token show up in their mailbox. When you acknowledge another’s contribution to your business, that kindness will stay with them and they will share their experience with you with others. Saying thank you is one of the easiest things you can do that will make an immediate impact on your customers.

Get to Know Your Neighbors

Do you have a brick and mortar business? Are there other entrepreneurs in your immediate area? Get out of your shop and make an effort to get to know the other entrepreneurs around you. You’ll find that you all have at least one thing in common – the community you work in! Invite them to coffee or lunch. Discuss ways to be active in your community. Entertain the idea of having a joint community event of some kind to benefit the local Youth Center or another local non-profit.

Adopt A Road

You’ve seen the signs – the ones that say “Road cared for by Company XYZ.” Adopt your own stretch of real estate and you (and the hundreds of other folks who pass by daily) can see your business on a sign as well. Keep in mind, you’ll be making a commitment to regularly policing  your stretch of pavement and picking up trash. Think of it as a way to give back to your community and get some advertising as well.

Join Other Kindpreneurs

Find a community of kindpreneurs and join them! You are welcome to join Kindness Konnectors on Facebook. We are a group of people dedicated to inspiring others to show more kindness to those around us. We share events, ideas, and inspirations with each other. We’ve formed a community dedicated to sharing the love.

Regardless of how you decide to make a difference, making the effort to go the extra mile for your customers and your community can pay off for your business. You’re likely to see an increase in positive reviews, referrals, and repeat business. Share the ways you are a kindpreneur in the comments!
