This week is National Small Business Week! Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, providing jobs, doing business with other local entrepreneurs, and supporting their community.
“More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.” Small Business Association
That’s pretty huge. Buying local doesn’t just impact the economy, it also impacts the environment. There’s a pretty cool infographic here shows how buying locally is beneficial to the environment.
So, why not take this week to celebrate & support Small Businesses!
Here are a few things you can do:
- Shop local – Avoid the big box stores this week. Pop into that little mom & pop store on the corner you’ve always meant to visit. You might be surprised at the selection and value you find inside.
- Have a Heart 2 Heart – There is someone in your networking group that you’ve been meaning to get together with. Make time to have a Heart 2 Heart with them this week. Get to know them and make that personal connection. You might find a new client or referral partner.
- Join us for a Small Business Celebration – If you’re in the Phoenix area, we’re having a Happy Hour on Wednesday. You can find details on Meetup here. Drop by for happy hour and stay for the SEVEN Networking meeting after. We would love to get to know you!
- SBA Armchair Discussion – This Thursday at the Arizona Biltmore, the SBA is hosting an armchair discussion with some powerful entrepreneurs. This event is FREE but space is limited. Go to their website to register.
I’m just a little excited about this week as SEVEN Networking is entirely made up of small businesses. We love to support each other AND we do love a reason to celebrate!
