Wholistic Health vs. The Cookbook

Wholistic Health

Years ago in the 80s when I began my Chiropractic practice, people spoke of Wholism, which meant treating a whole person rather than individual reductive parts.  The interaction of different organ systems and muscle systems were paramount in this approach.  Somewhere along the way and lost the big “W” and fell in the hole of holism, which switched things to body, mind, and spirit.  While still integrative, it became less than whole.

The Cookbook

Health care has devolved into the cut and paste, short sound bite of the 21st Century.  Doctor visit time lengths have been reduced by bean counters, Insurance examiners, and attorneys.  The 21st Century doctor must come up with a quick diagnosis and thus tends to the cookie cutter approach.  After a brief conversation and often without a true exam and history, a label is placed on the patient’s forehead.  A quick trip to the Cookbook yields the recipe of treatment.

I prefer the more thorough approach that reveals cause and interaction of systems that caused the problem.  Prevention before treatment is often tantamount to solving the problem efficiently and swiftly.

There are more concepts like this on my website where there are 58 pages of detailed information relating to your health.  I have a group called Raw Chocolate where I give free classes on how to make raw, healthy, sugarless, gluten free desserts. Regular informative posts are available on my Facebook page.

SEVEN

S.E.V.E.N. has been instrumental in growing my practice.  Potential patients and referral sources are available and happy to meet me regularly for heart to heart conversations outside of the regular meetings which are plentiful, to build trusting long term business relationships with each other.  This is integral in building and maintaining a high quality in clientele.
